Great! Well done and thanks!
~ Michael Dell
The largest tech companies in the world are like ships, custom built to fulfill the dreams of the visionaries at their helm. Michael Dell’s genius is execution and “Speed of Dell” is a longtime catchphrase of his employees.
This is a technology memoir about working for one of the giants in our industry. Dell is a household name and everyone has heard about his UT dorm room start, but the inside story of Michael’s company is a mystery to most. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to work for a technology innovator like Michael Dell, Bill Gates, or Jeff Bezos, this is the book for you.
When I was hired in 1996, Michael Dell’s company was already a hyper-efficient technology upstart. By the time I left Dell in 2017, Michael’s little Texas-based catalog computer company had grown from 5,000 to 138,000 employees and evolved into one of the largest technology providers on the planet!
Part of Michael Dell’s genius has always been his knack for changing the game. I quickly learned that riding the front of that wave of change was the right place to be at Dell.
I joined the first sales team exploring the profitability of the still new Internet. As that Internet Revolution picked up steam, I became a member of an elite design team supporting Dell’s new Server and Storage product lines. When Michael decided it was time for Dell Direct to open a Partner Division, I jumped right in and was a part of that Division’s phenomenal growth over the next dozen years.
It was an extraordinary journey that lasted for more than two decades!
