While competitors like Golfsmith disappear, The Golf Ranch flourishes. Recognized as a “Top 100” custom golf club fitter by the industry, this Georgetown based, family owned business successfully competes with some of the largest retail golf chains in the United States.

Three years ago, when "The Golf Ranch" expanded from their first store in Wolf Ranch into their present 8,000 square foot facility (just behind where I-35, Williams Drive, and Austin Avenue intersect) they knew they had to change with the times. The owners made a very expensive commitment to their present, full range of state-of-the-art equipment. When asked if they thought it was a good investment, they were enthusiastic in their response.

Up until a few years ago, it was the manufacturer who chose a golf club’s head, shaft, and even the grip to appeal to the widest number of players. Today, "The Golf Ranch" goes far beyond what companies like Ping, Titleist, and Callaway can offer from the factory.
They match a customer to every part of the club in a process that is entirely custom and completely computerized. The original equipment manufacturer's also recognize this new "made to order" era and have provided The Golf Ranch with complete fitting carts of their products.

Here are the steps in a custom fitting process:
First, a miniature, computer-driven device is attached to the golf club shaft. It analyzes four major swing characteristics; toe down, temple, swing speed, and release. Then, it reports back in descending order, the top ten shafts with the perfect kick point optimized for that customer’s unique swing. “Kick point” is not just the flex in the shaft but where exactly along its length the shaft needs to flex to best match that customer’s swing.
Next, they move a customer onto one of their three launch monitors. These measure the other aspects of their game, even down to the golf ball's backspin.
At the end of an hour-long fitting process, there is no guesswork left. A customer’s club component choices are listed on a spreadsheet, in order of effectiveness, so that individual knows exactly what stock in "The Golf Ranch's" vast inventory is best suited to their game.

Doing a custom fitting with one of the big golf chains can cost as much as $150. Complete fittings at The Golf Ranch are $50. If the customer decides to buy their perfectly fit clubs from The Golf Ranch, the fitting is free. "The Golf Ranch" also has a price match guarantee on every club purchase.
With over a 150 years of golfing experience on premise, The Golf Ranch offers a superior fitting experience. They also have pro teachers, on the spot grip replacement, full lines of shoes and clothes, even a genius Edel Putter fitting system. With Dan, Loralee, Ryne, and the "sweetest dog in the world" Faith St. John always around, they also guarantee a friendly, congenial, no pressure visit.
