I love stories like this. The other day one of my neighbors told me about an ice cream shop in her Wisconsin home town. It used to be a dairy delivering all the milk for the town (back when that was a thing), but nowadays they sell ice cream. Whenever the mercury in the thermometer begins to freeze, they start giving away a scoop of ice cream to anyone willing to drop by their store.
This sounds like an exercise in futility, doesn't it? Well, she said people line up out the door and down the street waiting for their free scoop. When she was a little girl, she says she was happy to do the same.
I did a google search, and found a link that tells the rest of the story...
