I understand this is a European thing, but is it a good idea for Texans? In general, I have to imagine most local residents can get used to any new design, but what about people who don't live in the area? I wonder what the before and after accident statistics are for other "diverging diamond" intersections.
There are the obvious dangers, like driving toward oncoming headlights at night. Personally, at our own Parmer/1431 intersection, I can't turn my head far enough around to see the fast oncoming traffic and so safely merge from North Parmer onto East 1431.
What about the simple inconveniences of the new design, like having to remember to exit north out of University Oaks shopping center at the I35/1431 intersection, since the West exit to the I35 service road just feeds you back onto 1431?
